On September 16th, the Bertelsmann Stiftung organizes an event with Nobel memorial prize winner Joseph Stiglitz!

The event, entitled “Inclusive Growth and the Social Market Economy – Do we Need a New Promise of Prosperity?” addresses the question whether the idea of the social market economy with its means to achieve prosperity and participation for all can be still upheld unbroken given increasing inequality in Germany. Growing income inequality is a serious problem economically and sociopolitically as, for example, income inequality above a certain level dampens growth.

Joseph Stiglitz, together with OECD Chief Statistician Martine Durand, has brought together a group of international experts to address these issues worldwide and call for a new understanding of growth in which growth is inclusive.

Therefore, the Bertelsmann Stiftung has invited these two experts together with Prof. Dr. Christoph Schmidt, President of the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI) in order to let them discuss about this serious and important topic.

We are all looking forward to hear what the top-class guests have to say! And as you are certainly too, the GED team will keep you updated continuously about the event on its twitter channel and here on the webpage!

And if you are curious about what especially Joseph Stiglitz thinks, don’t miss our interview with him!
