Ashenafi finished his Master degree in Economics at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy.  Currently, he is enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Economics at Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM),  where he is writing his dissertation on “Essays in technology, globalization, and the labor market.”

His Previous professional experiences include a research assistant at Bielefeld University, short-term internships at Ethiopian National Bank and Ministry of Economic Development as well as assistant Lecturer at Haramaya University, Ethiopia.
