Thank you for joining us on Monday, 8 May 2017  for our GED Virtual Roundtable. Sylvia Schmidt and Christian Bluth from the Global Economic Dynamics (GED) analyzed the election results and shed light on the issues ahead for the presidential elect.

The interactive online session brought together an analysis of the election and an outlook on short-term and long-term challenges ahead.

Specifically, we focussed on the following questions:

• Which factors were most important in determining the outcome of the election?
• Which are the most important challenges ahead for the president elect? Which policies can be expected?
• How important will the legislative elections be for determining France’s future economic policy?
• Which are the long-term implications for France’s political system and for the politics of the European Union?
